Surg Sched Spec/Med Asst
Overview The Surgery Scheduler/Med Assistant provides planning and service to patients and physicians in order to facilitate the scheduling and performance of surgical procedures. In addition, this position will room and prepare patient to see the surgeon as needed. Qualifications EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Previous customer service, insurance/coding and previous medical business office experience. Computer experience needed.Previous experience rooming patients including taking and documenting vital signs. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to project a professional, pleasant image, while interacting with a variety of personalities and cultures. Demonstrates tact and diplomacy and has strong oral and written communication. Must be able to problem solve effectively with coworkers, accept and institute change, and plan and prioritize. Responsibilities Facilitates the scheduling of surgery cases / procedures within a hospital or out-patient surgery center. May conduct financial discussion with patients regarding fees for surgical procedures and collect surgical deposits, as per departmental guidelines. Serves as a resource to other staff regarding surgery scheduling functions and participates in training other clinic staff to cover during absences or anticipated vacancies. Schedules pre-surgical H & P's per policy MS503. Verifies insurance benefits and communicates information to patients. Rooms patients including performing and documenting vital signs and preparing patient to see the surgeon, as needed. About Us Find it here.
