Teena Marie -No longer the here but her 5 octave range remains for us to enjoy. (8985 hits)

Some of you do and most of you don't know of Teena Marie except for her appearance on the BET awards last year.

Those of us that grew up with the oldies, Motown, the Original Rap, & R& B loved this woman's incredible voice range, It was s*xy when that was not an issue because the beauty of it surpassed it.

On my site http://sultryjazzdivas.ning.com I posted a medley of her songs with the ranges as she hit each note. There are no singers in this category today except for Mariah. I am writing this so that you can know that a great singer has moved on and soon to follow will be another one, who will remain un-named. These are the basis for today's great rappers like Lil' Wayne, and Drake who actually appreciate the old skool true talents in the game.

BTW this is not to get you to my site which has near 70,000 hits in one year and 8 months alternatively you can go to Mixpod and search for Teena Marie and you will also see the same performance. Just wanted to share what a loss in the music industry we just encountered and she was still young.I expect Missy Elliott will comment as she worked and admired Ms. Teena Marie. A real "Vanilla Child "soul singer.

I last saw her in 1995 in Vegas, and I remember saying it's now or never as I dragged myself to her performance in a small intimate club, she belted out her tunes and it was all worth it. What a voice.
