The government shutdown -please do not panic.Clinton's administration was also targeted. (3257 hits)

The United States federal government shutdown of 1995 and 1996 was the result of a conflict between Democratic President Clinton and the Republican-controlled Congress over funding for Medicare, education, the environment and public health. It took place after Clinton vetoed the spending bill which Congress sent him. Thereupon, the Federal government of the United States put non-essential government workers on furlough and suspended non-essential services from November 14 through November 19, 1995 and from December 16, 1995 to January 6, 1996 (see budget crisis -google). The major players were President Bill Clinton and the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich.

The GOP party believes in authority by fear. Clinton turned around and balanced the budget, when he left office it was in the black, the Republicans came back and took into a deficit.

President Obama is well aware of the ramifications. However this time around, the possible delay in payroll to our servicemen overseas will prove to be a death knell for the GOP.

Hi Luv! how is Cali treating you these days? the last time we spoke you guys were having your own sort of shut down--
Newt and Michelle? where did you hear that/ has an exploratory committee because power and money are such addictions--but this is not an issue--in a Chris Wallace interview he said "his conversion to Catholicism two years ago, he has reinvented himself and will use these changes to try and woo social conservatives, but he has clearly been tripped up when asked about his past. He told the Christian Broadcasting Network that his infidelity was “driven by how passionately I felt about this country” and that he worked “far too hard,” but that didn’t get received well either. Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday said many people thought the answer was “kind of lame.” Gingrich said he decided to pursue Clinton’s impeachment despite engaging in an extramarital affair himself because he believed the president was committing perjury, telling Wallace, “I don’t know what you would have had me do.”"

He is not the best of the lot..

Anyway my dear sister--after that attack I weathered on the Internet back in Dec 2008--I am in law school..to deal with the monster--only me--right? lol

Now back to the theme of this post...and, just think Newt Gingrich the one who shut down the government back then is now along with Michelle Backmann running for president...how about this fo rthe Right-Wingers topping running Sarah Palin for vice?!? lol (smile)
