He didn't choose music.... (310 hits)

….music chose him. This is a story about a man on a mission to change the reputation of Hip Hop.

D.Rose, born Donald Rose, knows tragedy and heartache all too well. By the age of 10 he was fatherless and death had fallen upon his sister. And as if that wasn’t enough for a young child to take, a couple of years later, God felt it necessary to take his mother as well. While he was grieving, little did he know that what he was sent here for would soon be shown to him.

D.Rose played football in high school and landed himself a scholarship to college. This is where he realized he has talent but still wasn’t exactly sure which direction to go. He produced beats for up and coming rappers while in Florida until it hit him. While sleeping, he had a premonition. He was born not only to make beats, but to rhyme over them as well. He immediately jumped up and made his way to the studio. He put his pen to the paper and the words started flowing like a faucet. This was it! He was sent here to be an MC. His senior year in college revolved around Hip Hop. Term papers, his thesis and anywhere else he could fit it in. The first song he wrote was for his mother, “Dear Mama”. Of course he was still feeling the pain from her absence so he decided to write about it, also know as therapy.

He would jump on tracks and spit a verse or two but D.Rose is different. Pretending to be someone he’s not isn’t his style. Rhyming about jewelry, cars, and women… you can keep that. This man has a story to tell. And because of that, he feels alone in this game. His lyrics have depth and his talent is unbelievable. You can hear every word that flows from his mouth, simply because he wants you to. He wants to be heard. Yeah, a rapper can have a hot beat but is he saying anything worth listening to? That’s where the real MCs come in. And please don’t expect him to come out the box beefin’ with some other rapper. He has other thing on his Bucket list like empowering and encouraging our youth, getting his master’s degree, and eventually starting his foundation for underprivileged kids, Rose from Nothin. But first…he’s going to make us start thinking again through his lyrics.

He now has wonderful parents (shout out Mr. & Mrs. Carter), supportive siblings, and a growing fan base. Oh yeah and this other girl that has his back…you may know her….she calls herself R&B Chick.
